For almost 25 years, this brother and sister-run operation has been keeping tourists and locals coming back for more. The bar sits in an old saltcellar, and the décor is quite natural and features high ceilings. Chez Roland offers a variety of drinks, but regulars tend to favor the classic Austrian wines that are available.

Just standing outside to watch the crowd try to get into this hot spot is worth the visit. With loud music and big bouncers working the door, Segabar may sound like a video arcade, but it's not. The interior is dark and showcases neon lights. The crowd is hip and young. And the live musical acts are spectacular.

An elegant atmosphere drapes this very chic bar. The Seitensprung, which when translated implies keeping someone on the side, offers a diverse setting. The bar gets crowded and the ambience is tastefully dark. There is an exceptional cocktail menu and a choice of late night snacks.

When attractive hordes of young glamorous locals flock to the square, that's the cue this trendy bar is open for business. Stadt Kaffee, along with the adjacent Kino, offers a luxuriously plush ambience and energetic music scene. The décor is sleek and contemporary with chrome and steel accents that accentuate the bars dramatic lighting. This place is lots of fun.

This popular stop is one of the many nightlife venues located along the river. Vis à Vis feels more like a café than a bar and tends to attract a younger crowd. The atmosphere is casual, and the bar offers a full range of drinks as well as coffee favorites.

This bistro café feels more like a beer garden than a bar. Watzman serves snacks as well as drinks, and its friendly clientele tends to run on the young side. The bar also offers courtyard seating with great views of the river and fortress at night.

Although the crowd appears a bit rough, a night at the West Side is fun. The bar is located on the river and offers live music and a full drink menu. The décor is dark and dungeon like, but that may be because patrons are passing the night away underneath some of the Salzburg's oldest buildings. If you're daring, West Side is an adventure.

This addition to the bar scene services the mid-30's crowd. The ambience is fresh, the décor open and contemporary, and the bar is the focal point. Stonewalls showcase modern artwork, and Y2K's blond wood decorating accents make this a nice alternative to other "dark" bar choices.
